Management presentations (boring meetings) in a local authority office are the place to hear that kind of crap. Getting cues from their 'clever' notes and spewing garbage. I've heard loads of it.

Yup, and I've been in sales meetings too, and heard that sort of pish, spouted by folk who think it sounds 'impressive', and makes them come across as if they know what they're talking about, when everyone else is just thinking....

Try working for an American company, you 'aint seen nothing by comparison.

Was taking about this with one of my brothers who is quite high up the food chain at a bank. He's firmly of the opinion that if you are taller than average and can stand in front of a room full of people and talk for half an hour without actually saying anything of any interest or relevance, you can go all the way to the top.

Yes I've seen that happen many times. But you must possess a rather 'effusive' and charismatic personality, in order to be convincing enough!

It's amazing what folk will 'buy into', when whatever it is, is being sold to them by someone who's extremely confident in their ability to 'control' an audience

"Going forward", what utter corporate bollocks. I worked for three corporate giants for twenty seven years so is there any wonder I am so sodding cynical..? Twenty seven years of being kept in my place to satisfy the shareholders. Anyway, going forward

Here's a contentious one - it makes me cringe when I hear people say 'I got the GIG' or similar. Only old jazzers whose careers ended before 1960 should use this terminology; by law.

Is that the same as "the gig economy", wherein people work without a formal contract ("zero hours contract")?

'Zero hours contracts'; that phrase in itself pisses me off. If it is really zero hours then you're not working at all so no need for a contract. 'Casual' is what it used to be called, not sure why they had to invent another name for it except that it means dickheads can get all excited about it like it is a new thing.

Anyone ever see that old Brando film "On The Waterfront"?

Not many people know that it was originally called "Zero Hours Contracts On The Waterfront Gig Economy". The people who put the plastic letters on the cinemas' signage went on strike, and the film company were forced to shorten it.
