ou might slip, you might slide, you might
Stumble and fall by the road side
But don't you ever let nobody drag your spirit down
Remember you're walking up to heaven
Don't let nobody turn you around
… Walk with the rich, walk with the poor
Learn from everyone, that's what life is for
And don't you let nobody drag your spirit down

Grado SR60 Or SR80. From early, right through to the current 'e' generation. Doesn't matter that much to me. Because, they all sound highly musical and enjoyable. Not the most subtle sounding headphone in the world. So bare this in mind before parting with your money.
Mordaunt Short MS10i from the 1990's era. You can pick these up for beer money nowadays. Nice vibrant energetic sound, without giving your wallet a stroke.

How could I forget? The Denon PMA-350SE integrated amp of course.
A decent one can be bought for less than £100 and will not disgrace itself in just about any system. Every time I try one, I'm amazed at how good they sound, plenty of power for most situations too. I've had these driving my big Tannoys beautifully.
A Wadia CD player from 1990. One of the best digital sources I've heard, even beating £20+k modern stuff.
a mint pair of Kef 103.2, a Mayware T24 step up and my first L75 build, all for indecent prices

There have been very few items I have bought and not liked. In fact I can only think of one: the Decca London tone-arm, which I sold on.
Of those items bought on a whim, I have been pleasantly surprised with the B&W DM2a speakers (£50) and with the Amptastic Mini-T class D amplifier (can't remember exactly how much I paid for it, but it probably around £50-60).
