Default Upgrade to Caiman Seg of better transport?

    Good morning,

Mainly a headphone listener. Currently use the Bushmaster mk2 with firmware upgrade. Using the mk2 headphone stage to drive my Philips Fidelio X2 cans. Music is varied but mainly Symphonic and Classic rock.

The CD spinner is an old Philips circa 1990's used to drive the mk2 via coax out.

Would it be better to upgrade to the Seg or a better transport such as Pioneer stable platter type or one of the Marantz CD 67 or 63? Or even a new CA cxc?

I understand a better transport would provide less jitter?

I also use a couple of iPod docks and a DVD through the Bushmaster.

Any suggestions will be much appreciated.
    Thanks

Stan has come back to me and advised upgrading the Bushmaster mk 2 especially as I listen to headphones.

I am still considering a CD Player upgrade to use as a better transport.

Advice on this is still required.

    Thanks

Don't get hooked on the jitter thing. It was a good selling point years ago, but of little relevance with the the current generation of chips used in digital circuits to design DACs.

Caiman II was a nice step up from a Bushmaster. SEG will be even bigger.

A battery is a big step up if you don't already have one

Try a Pioneer CDP stable platter with digital output.
On Ebay for not a lot. Could be less than £50

Yeah...Stan his given me some good advice and because I do approximately 80% of listening with headphones he recommends upgrading the Bushmaster especially as I use 12v battery power.

The Pioneer stable platter CD players are a consideration but they all seem to be more like £75 -100+ on the bay at the mo

What about a cheap lap top....rip all your music lossless?

Just connect to the seg via usb or if you are apple orientated via toslink.

It will open up a world to you regards streaming/digital radio!!!

Bit if a dinosaur....I have a 160G iPod which, I feed to the Bushmaster via a Pure i10 dock and use Apple lossless files.

Stan advised that for my application, it will be wiser to upgrade the Bushmaster which, will benefit the headphone stage. Therefore, for initial listening to a new CD before ripping to the ipod, I will still use a transport.

I also listen to a lot of vinyl and prefer the ritual of handling the media format and appreciating art work of sleeves or CD booklets etc.
Total digital just seems so impersonal to me.
    Cheers
