Default Heybrook HB3 or Rogers LS55

    Hi all,

I’m looking to change my B&W 302s for floor standing speakers. I’ve found the two mentioned on eBay and am wondering which would be the preferred choice?

I’m using a Rega Planar 2 through an AMC 3050a and a cheap Sony CD player for now. Budget is limited to £200 but there seems to be plenty of options within that budget. Unfortunately living in Cornwall means most cash on collection options really aren’t an option.

Both are stand mount speakers. If you want stand mount, they were both very good.

If you can stretch to £269 you can get a pair of Q Acoustics 2050i’s with free delivery direct from QA, previous WHF award winners.

I have their bigger brothers the 3050s and they are excellent.

I nabbed a pair of Heybrook HB3's a few years ago that had been left outside a house in the rain! I refurbed them and replaced the mid-range foams and they sound great. I have not heard the Rogers so I can't comment, but the Heybrooks aren't going anywhere. I have heard the Q Acoustics 2050's and was very impressed by them. In the setting I heard them they sounded fairly natural and a nice coherence between the drivers.

    Thanks guys.

I had a look at the Q acoustics and like the look but can’t stretch that far.

I could have MS Avant 904i or there are some Acoustic Energy aegis 3 close enough for me to pick up.

Im not sure I like the look for the MS but the other 3 options are all viable.
