Default Pleasant surprise - Technics SL-7

I was looking for a cheap turntable to use while I get my Lenco fettled / serviced and saw this.

It's in pretty good condition and came with a very low hours Technics EPC-P202C cartridge fitted.

Plonked it down, put on a record, pressed start and wow ! What a surprise.

I had read good things about the SL-7 but really didn't expect this. A great sounding, easy to use TT for not a lot of money.

Seems like there are still under the radar bargains to be had.

    Well chuffed.

Very much underrated TT, and that's a cracking cartridge!

    Enjoy.

They are more than decent aren't they? I had an SL6 for a while. Bid for it on ebay prepared to go to £150, got it for £70. It arrived in one piece absolutely mint and perfect working order. I passed it on to a friend who wanted a simple deck the whole family could use. Stick record on, close lid, press play, job done. Not sure what sort of junk TT you could buy new for £70 nowadays but it won't be a patch on it.

Yes, more than decent indeed and, as Hugh said, the cartridge seems to be a bit of a sleeper.

I've got an SL-DL5 on the shelf. Fitted it with a Shure M-92E and it produces pretty good sound. Have to dig it out and give it another spin
