A simple set of isolating washers to better "couple" the two surfaces of the chassis and lid or a method to interrupt the transmission of any chassis Bourne vibration to the lid would have cost peanuts and probably removed any issues of resonance. If you've replaced your lid for aesthetic reasons then more power too yeah!
