    Default Moth RCM

Now after six years of using a Moth RCM, I am thinking about a new machine. The Moth, in conjunction with L'Art Du Son Record Cleaning Fluid, is very effective and probably is all that is needed for more than acceptable results for precious vinyl.

My problem is this: The Moth is VERY noisy and requires me using ear defenders to avoid ringing in the ears and it's uncomfortable.

What is out there as effective but much quieter?

Rather a lot, incl. Keith Monks, VPI, Clearaudio etc.), but quietness seems to be commensurate with cost. My VPI 16.5 isn't quiet, but I've never needed to wear anything over my ears. However, my age-related hearing probably doesn't hold a candle to yours.

Is the title supposed to say "MJoth"? Or did your big fingers get in the way typing?

I'll change it to 'Moth' if you like.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

If you want a quiet RCM be prepared to pay out big money all the reasonably priced ones are noisy.

Budget not really an issue tbh. Reliability and value for money more important. And QUIETER than the (very good) Moth.

    Hi Al

Ive been looking at the Loricraft machines the last couple of days and have seen the demo videos on Youtube. Would you say the records are better cleaned on the Loricraft compared to the Okki Nokki and Moth machines

I may purchase one of these machines myself in the near future
