Back in the seventies, on one of my visits to friends in Ullapool, I had a night of passion with my mate's sister. The next morning we were all sat around the table having breakfast.

I had a massive "love bite" on my neck, which I was trying hard to conceal. But the girl's mum was watching me closely, with a smirk on her face. Has she noticed it, and why does she seem ok with it?

I'm busy trying to eat my breakfast, hide the love bite and be cool about it. But that strange smile is bothering me.

"Steve," she finally says, "Do you normally eat your shredded wheat with a knife and fork?"

I think men's brains really are only wired for one thing at a time.

Sorry to spoil your fantasy, but no, and anyway the girl looked more like her dad.

In my defence, it had been a while, and I was quite drunk.

That thing with hair is the leader of "The Free World". His hair is not so much growing, as trying to escape from his head.

I have a terrible short term memory and its been getting to the stage where I will have a sudden thought then when I get to the next room I cant remember what I went into the room for. Ive done it twice in a row on several occassions. Its more scatty thought when I am in a rush or a bit stressed.

I could watch certain films and can not remember the name of key characters when asked soon afterwards. Its like the information isnt really going in and Im not processing it properly

It usually takes me two goes when Im meeting people for the first time. The name is mentioned and then I usually have to ask again and then go into a corner and say to myself its Dave... Dave... Dave the rave to drum it in with some word association

Its more that I have a selective memory and I do learn an revise fairly well. I worry that dementia is setting in because Im defo getting worse

I was going to reply, but by the time I got to the end of your post, I'd forgotten what the first half was about.
