Default Khozmo Stepped Attenuator SMD Series version MKII

Has anyone got any experience of one of these?

I'm thinking of putting one in my amp but worried the dimensions are correct in the link?

    Its gonna be tight!

    Hi.

Yes, I've been using one for a good couple of years now... and had the previous version too.

Great sounding, excellent build quality too.

    Hope that helps

Thanks are you able to comment on whether the dimensions are correct?

Got the Mk 1 and they are large. I was looking to replace an Alps Blue in summat with a Mk2 and there was no way to do it (nor indeed with any of the available alternatives on flea bay though several came closer in size). This is a limitation of stepped attenuators in general I suspect, a pity as the Khosmo is excellent otherwise.

Yup, but I suspect that the Khozmo was mainly designed for use in DIY projects, where one customizes the casing accordingly, in order to successfully accommodate it, rather than being fitted as an aftermarket upgrade to an existing pre-amplifier, where space restrictions may apply.

Also, stepped attenuators almost always take up more room than pots. I had to drill out the casing in the Croft, in order to get my DACT stepped attenuator to fit. Anyway, Tony, if you can successfully accommodate the Khozmo, I think you'll be in for a nice sonic upgrade!

Well we measured up some free space below the 100B's tranny and if we use an extender rod its doable.

I now just need to decide whether to ditch the Triode mode and stick with Ultra Linear in the Yaqin as this way we can reduce the signal path.

    Thanks for the feedback

Just as a follow up my tech just sent me the following email regarding the Khzomo, 'I'm just wiring the volume knob and I took the opportunity to test the ohmmeter. Incredibley both are identical to 0 ohms to almost 10K, then there is a difference of less than one to 2 hundredth from ohms to about 30K and only 0.07 ohms to 50K. It's a very, very good potentiometer'
