I've got some dipole ribbons (BKS 128s) and while the soundstage was great there was a bit of smearing evident, which I put down to the effect of the rear radiation from the ribbons. Anyway I found some black crushed velvet fabric on eBay at £2.99 for a couple of meters and cut off strips of the appropriate width and used sticky Velcro tabs to fix them to the back in a way that they can be taken on and off easily for comparison purposes. I've got to say they sound much better, and it got me thinking, all these people that say they can't have Quads because they would have to put them near the wall, why don't they put fabric on the back with Velcro like this, it seems obvious to me?
