More than likely it is the quad analogue switch chips, 4066 or similar number.

    Had a similar scenario myself.

The Quad 34 is lovely to look at and to use, but IME/IMO sounds poor even when freshly restored, so I recommend that you don't throw too much money at it. I know that some people will disagree and quote Peter Walker's well known marketing line about 'straight wire with gain' but the excellent Quad power amps were rather let down by preamps like the 34.

I agree. I've used them. OK as a back-up, but the sound is lacklustre. If it can be sorted economically, fair enough, especially if it was a freebie.

    Hi Alan

How are you? Do you have an idea of repair costs if this is the fault?

    Thank you..

Hi Dan I'm fine, you too I hope. The cost of the chips is very little, they are equivalent or similar to this
    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TEXAS-INS...wAAOSw-W5UtpqI

Have a look on the board and see if you can see any chips with the number 4066 on them, I believe there are 4 from memory.
