This one is the mid-price £5.6k version. I'll be very pleased if anyone wants the £13k version!

It's a bit difficult to compare with the Reed because it won't fit on this deck, being a 12" arm. Your 3P is the best Reed, a clear improvement on the cheaper Reed 12" 2G that I have here, but it's a middle mass arm at a shade under 20g and the Glanz is very much a heavyweight at 30g. If we are talking about using cartridges that require a bit of 'heft' behind them, I'd say (working from memory here) that the Glanz has a much more solid presentation, a fantastic way with detail and soundstaging, and much better dynamics. I'm still reeling after the first few notes played through the Glanz today - it is truly astonishing, and an old Decca LP of Ashkenazy playing Chopin was startlingly real. The Glanz is 30% more expensive than a Reed 3P and that shows, I believe, but the 3P is nevertheless a lovely thing to use and to hear.

    I hope that helps!

All dimensions are on the product page in my shop at https://ammonite-audio.co.uk/product...eries-tonearm/ . Scroll down and you'll see a table of specifications - the spindle to pivot distance is quaintly termed 'Practical Length' which is 290mm for the 12" version. I don't know what the supplied cable is made from, but it does look and feel very nice and it is a Glanz product and not a third party item.

I've just ordered a 9" Glanz MH-94S for myself to go on the SL-1200GR. Life is simply not going to be the same when this one get packed up and sent to its very fortunate owner! I'm hopelessly smitten by this arm, and whatever I've thrown at it, it has delivered majestic music like I've not quite heard before.

Depending on how much I have to shell out to get the damage done to my Ref 75 sorted out you might very well have a 12" order very soon.
