A "hi-fi habit" can be extremely expensive if you read Hi-Fi News and think that's what hi-fi is, but it can be quite a cheap habit too, particularly if you're into DIY hi-fi. For example, you could build a pair of speakers with fairly cheap drivers, learn a lot in the process, spend a lot of happy hours designing and measuring them and evaluating and refining them, and it doesn't have to cost a lot of money. You could even buy a cheap pair of speakers from a charity shop and indulge your DIY creativity with them for peanuts.
Anyway, I'm just saying that hi-fi doesn't have to be about buying Krell amps or Martin Logan speakers every few months.
