I have a pair of Dali Skyline 2000 that need a bit of TLC.
When driven correctly they produce some exquisite sounds.
The are an open baffle design with a 15 inch bass married to a paper cone mid and a 40 cm ribbon tweeter.
It is amazing, but with that tweeter the horizontal dispersion is fantastic, but if one gets up, all the treble just disappears. I wonder if this is deliberate to stop treble from being reflected from the floor or ceiling.
The last time I was using this speaker I was using my Alphason Sonata into an Audion pre (for the phono), on to a BB100 (50 watt valve) and then into my Dali Skyline's.
Unfortunately some scum broke into my house and stole the Amp plus one of the bass units from the Dali's.
They also smashed my NOS GEC KT66's and 16 * 6550's.
This was quite while ago now, so now it is time to get what I have working again.
As this is all in Spain, I will now take my 2 Quad 306's and try to replace the bass units.
For the pre I still have the Audion plus I still have the Alphason.
I have ordered tom Bass units, but I have been told that I should also be able to order the correct ones from Cerwin Veger USA.
I have also been offered a chance to buy a pair of Dali Skyline 1000 in the UK.
That is so so tempting.
If anyone knows anything more about the Dali's I would love to know.
