    It is only the DAC that's faulty so should be fixable.
    I agree though it's a bit steep. What has happened to the prices of gear from this era? it has rocketed just recently.

    Asking prices have, I wonder if it is selling at those prices though? CD is a dead duck now, only a hard-core collectors and a handful of luddites like me are still interested in it. I wouldn't pay more than £500 even for the highest of high-end players, you won't be able to give them away in 10 years time I reckon.
