If they post here, and you don't want the item in question, it gives others who may be interested the chance to buy them.

I realise that, and in the normal light of day it's an excellent scenario for everyone, for the reasons you mention. However, sadly in the past I have fallen foul of particularly aggressive approaches to the seller from others, resulting in much wanted items being stolen from under my nose. It's an awkward one.

I've done the high end vintage mid 70s tuner thing a little bit.

If you are buying for sound quality reasons, the further back you go the better the sound will be IMHO. All valve tuners can sound phenomenally gorgeous, even if they are a little (or even a lot in some cases) coloured and poorer technically. This is the one I'd probably buy if I wanted something top and even though I've never heard one (risk taker me but it'll lose no value so bear that in mind): https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MARANTZ-1...wAAOSwsBtaIB8r

Shame it's US voltage but hey.

That's a shame, I can't imagine it happens on this site though (I hope)'

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Don't know about that the recent Unison amp thread was a bit out of order, there was a least three people interested including me but some other guy with a wanted advert for the same amp somehow seemed to receive preference.

I certainly didn't even receive the courtesy of a reply to my enquiry in the for sale thread.

It's hard to know who the first person to say they would definitely have it was when some PM and some post. I err on the side of people do the right thing but sometimes you might confirm to a pm then see an earlier post or vice versa quite by accident. I get tapatalk email updates for messages but not replies to the thread, so they are more likely to be successful if I'm busy at work and don't have time to check the thread as well. In this case Jake's direct email confused matters further!
