    Post Hello

    Hi everyone

my name's Barney from sussex. I've been into hifi since childhood due to my father. having 3 kids meant I took a step away. since moving to a larger house last year I've been trying to build up an 'enjoyable ' system again.

music taste is 'anything done well' as my dad used to say. this stretches all the way from dance and electronic music, prog rock acoustic jazz, blues, reggae and a niche interest in uk hip hop from my adolescent years!

current system is ar6 speakers, unison research simply 2 (away for repair!, so using a music angel el34 which will soon be getting some modifications), marantz cd75 and thorens td160 and trichord dino mk2.

overall is a fairly enjoyable and musical listen.

currently looking at getting a dac!

    thanks for reading!

apologies for the angry smiley. I have tried to edit it but it doesn't seem to be disappearing.

    Hello Barney. Welcome to AOS.

Hmm. AR6 speakers. I used to like those, not heard any for a lifetime.

Tell us what your future plans may be if any for your HiFi.

    Enjoy the forum,
    Geoff.

    Hi Geoff

thanks for the welcome... I started back on this journey determined not to get to bogged down box swapping and the constant need to upgrade. the goal was non fatigueing and enjoyable and it works on that level

i have to say I'm enjoying the ar6 and I'm sure there is more to come from the system as a whole. they seem to lack top end sparkle but it's a warm smooth listen.

the td 160 will need some work to get the best out if it. I've owned it for 15yrs. a new cart is a must as it's only got a ortofon vms20e at the moment and I'm sure it's past it's best and new needles are no longer available. not keen on an aftermarket one

keep looking for ar5 as an upgrade. but keep thinking of my original goal and not falling into upgraditus!
