“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

That's dead right. October to March there's too little UVB in daylight for any benefit.

Got home from work at 07:15 this morning, went to bed and woke up at 16:30 to get back to work for a 12 hour shift. I haven't seen daylight for three days and won't until Wednesday.

Try getting away on a holiday to Tenerife or something similar. We did it at this time last year and that boost was enough to to make winter seem a lot shorter.

I went on Vit D supplements and that seemed to work. Could be placebo but it doesn't actually matter does it? Just like hi-fi really.

SAD sufferer here too. A light box only gave me headaches. The Doc has prescribed Prozac for the last few years but I only take them from October through to early Spring. They have really helped, but may not be for everyone.

I have no side effects and don't experience any problems when I stop taking them.

I went to the off licence instead of the vet and they gave me a scrip for Guinness. Taken daily. Works so well I carried on taking it all year round.

I understand what you are saying. have suffered with depression for years and from November on life gets harder. I exercise a lot and try to cycle 4 times a week. However, once the dark and cold hits it gets much harder (not getting any younger either) to motivate myself and it is 100% psychological. If I try to force myself to go out I start to get stomach gripes and feel slightly unwell. Bonkers.

I have been a sad basta*d for yrs , according to my wife

Joking apart , I hate winter but for me it co incides with the cows being housed and my work rate and ability to get away from it all ,being severly curtailed !

D3 is great , lots of Vit C ,and occasionally I take Kalms or Passiflora to calm me down .

Other than that , plenty of

    Good luck with it !!
I only ride 'em, I don't know what makes 'em work
