    I have some interesting screen shots detailing the disc and HDMI output formats, but can't seem to upload any images, just get an error at the end of 'file upload'

    Basically, the 24p option is indeed being upscaled to 12 bit 4:4:4, from the original disc (planet earth II 4k HDR) which is 4:2:0, whereas when 24p is off the output is 4:2:2 12 bit...hence the added load at 24p

    Thanks to Grant for some image assistance...

    The monoprice works perfectly well at 4k/60hz/HDR (4:2:2);

    However when I activate 24p output;

    The underlying deep colour upsampling is activated;

    I can't get the monoprice to work at this setting I.E. 4k/24hz/HDR (4:4:4);

    With regard to 24p it depends on the disk in question, it's been around for a while, allegedly gives a more film like quality, there should be a setting in your player to activate it.

    Both Planet Earth II, and Blue Planet II are filmed in 24p, if you press the 'i' button on your TV during playback you should see either 4K/24/HDR or 4K/60/HDR.

    FWIW I think my UB900 chroma chip is doing something at 24p, hence issues with the monoprice at this setting
    No worries, Will. Like I said, I just think one should be clear that the issue you're experiencing is local to you (with your equipment) and not anything related to the Monoprice cable being 'unable to handle HDR', just in case anyone thinking of buying one for that purpose should be so concerned

    In terms of the bit in bold above (using Blue Planet II as the test sample content), by clicking on the 'i' button, I get this message displayed: 'UHD, 3840x2160p'. However, this is with a BBC broadcast I downloaded from Sky, not a 4K HDR Blu-ray disc of the same content.

    The monoprice cable can handle HDR!...it's only being challenged by the my UB900 upsampling 24hz content to 12bit 4:4:4, whereas it can handle the 4:2:2 being passed through at 60hz

    FYI 24p/hz is a blu-ray thing, all TV will be 50/60hz...do you have any 4k blu-rays? Do yourself a favour and get Planet Earth II & Blue Planet II on blu-ray, much better than the 4k broadcast...

    Very pleased - I haven't done an A/B comparison yet, but I watched the UHD of 'Blade Runner 2049' a couple of nights ago and the experience was mind-boggling.

    No problem upsampling to 12 bit 4:4:4 here Will?

    Still to pick up Planet Earth II yet, will at some point.
    But yeah, Lots of 4K HDR content on Netflix and its brilliant, but not a patch to a UHD bluray of the same thing.
    With the streamed stuff, more of a difference with HDR content than 4K vs 1080p I find.

    If you have Netflix, Black Mirror is worth a watch, excellent in HDR...

This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

    “You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”
