    I'm Geoff.

    Default LIDL Soldering Set

From Sunday 14th Jan. LIDL will be offering a complete soldering station with solder and spare tips for a mere £8.99.

This is a 'special', so stocks will be limited and only available for a few days.

I have a number of LIDL tools and they've all been good.

You might also be interested in the rotary multi-tool. I have one of these too and it's come in handy for no end of jobs, like enlarging holes in casework for instance. They have a bit set to match it.

These are also 'specials', so won't be available for long.

I bought something similar from Lidl made by Parkside a couple of years ago. It was complete junk. The solder tip did not fit the iron properly and was loose (you couldn't tighten it) and was of such poor quality that it was unlikely to have made a good solder joint. However, this may be better?

Ive had a lidl soldering kit for a couple of years and found it fine for my limited needs-fixed my tuntable phono connections with it a couple of weeks ago.

I will try to snaffle one on sunday.....thanks for the heads up Geoff.

As I said, I have a number of LIDL tools and have been happy with them. I've a pistol 'weller' type Parkside soldering gun and find it great for speaker plug soldering as the extra immediate heat counteracts the heat sinking of plugs. It's good for plastic welding too.

Generally I find that the irons themselves are okay, but it is the tips that are rubbish. They have poor coatings and corrode away very quickly. If you could find a tip for a professional iron that fitted the budget iron the budget iron would probably be quite good.
