Recently Adam (of this parish) and I were mucking around with computers and DACs and had to use a long cable in one setup. Even though the price of this cable is very low I was impressed with the transparency (of sound) and the build quality of the actual cable.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

I second Edward's impressions, 'twas a very long cable and sounded fine to us.

Thanks for the very kind advice and the link I did already have a 3m standard cable that I bought to use with my printer that I have just connected up and it works perfectly fine. However I think I would still like to try something slightly fancier perhaps one of the c line chord or supra or something along those lines.

PLEASE I'm fully aware there are those of you who wouldn't spend more than a few pounds and those on the opposite side who believe cables are the icing on the cake and will spend thousands. I myself have had cables that retail for £800 and others that cost £5 and have my own very definite ideas about cables and don't require educating or desire an argument about it.
Excuse my slightly curt wording but I have become embroiled in several online aruements about cables and am pretty bored by the subject I just want to try a slightly better made slightly better shielded cable and would be very pleased to hear if you have one for sale.

Apologies Tara, I did not realise you were looking for high end cables. Sorry I don't have any for sale. I use Supra cables but in the past I have used a SOtM cable between my computer and DAC and there was a nice lift to fine detail. Sadly I don't have that cable anymore. I do use a SOtM ethernet cable and that, likewise, provides a nice lift to micro detail.

Good luck with your search. Perhaps you could usefully amend your original post to say you are not looking for a long printer type cable, but a high end audiophile cable.

I do actually wonder if a powered USB hub would do anything to clean up the signal if connected to a linear PSU? I believe that hubs reclock the signal, you would think that a USB 3 hub would have quite a decent reclock circuit.

    Might be worth an experiment.
