What does it sound like? You're using the Nak solely as a phono stage that way, not as a pre-amp.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".
“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”
"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”
“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”
***SMILE, BE HAPPY***
Maybe borrow one and find out? For some reason, there are phono stages that just don't 'gel' with MC's. Dunno if that would apply to the Nack.
Personally, I've always been happiest using MC's through a good SUT, regardless of what phono stage I had. Other do things differently.
Thanks to all replies, I was using both amps pre sections which can't be good. So now going tape out into aux on Sony, I'll give it a days listen and report back, at present the hard treble still seems to be there, although to a slightly lesser extent. Merry Xmas.

Personally I find my CA5E is about the same quality as my first Kinshaw Perception phono on MC but prefer my second Kinshaw (I now have 2) over the Nak for MM. However I have been using the output RCA's rather than the tape out so will probably have a further experiment tomorrow.

Should sound more than listenable if set up properly and amps all working fine. Can you stick up some photos of the connections at the back and the settings at the front? Do tone controls on the Nac effect the tape out? When I was young with some basic system, I found they did but not the volume obv. Might want to send the nak back if the Phono is playing up. Is there a mc/mm switch at the back? Or load settings etc?
