Default Selling Naim pre amps - snaio or no snaic?

Just sold a Naim nac 72 to some knob end on Ebay, he has opened a case against me because I didn't include the snaic lead with his pre amp. My belief is that Naim pre amps do not come with any leads, it is the power amps which come with the snaic leads, as I sold my power amp in another auction I included the snaic and mains lead with this, so obviously I had none to include with the 72, I advertised it as just the amp alone (with blanking plug), made no mention of a snaic, and when I advertised the power amp I stated includes snaic and mains lead. This guy is an absolute arse. But anyway, I'd always thought protocol with Naim amps was to include the snaic with the power amp, not the pre, anybody had experience of this?

It's not an integral part of the item. If it wasn't mentioned in the description, then it's not part of the sale and he should have no expectation of receiving one. SNAIC's are offered as separate items on ebay anyway.

Precisely. It's a case of 'tough titty' for the ebay tosser. Offer him this: a nice two-fingered salute

I just asked on the Naim forum, and its very clear that Snaics come with the power amps rather the pre. Just hope Ebay see it my way, I'll keep you informed. Ebay, the opera.

I’ve bought and sold several Naim pre and powers and always had the snaic with the power. That was confirmed to me by several current and past Naim dealers as being the protocol. The pre should only have a blanking plug and remote if it one of the newer ones

Be prepared for this not to go your way Mike. Ebay offers the biggest marketplace there is but little protection against buyers with unrealistic expectations (I'm being nice here !).

I hope I'm very much wrong in this case of course. Good luck !

The power amps come with SNAIC and not the pre.

I sold a power-amp to a customer and after 18 months he came back to me complaining that the lead i supplied with it, had the wrong colour label on it and was affecting the performance. Ah, the joys of Naim.

Yes, there are always a few customers with wildly unrealistic expectations and demands. A pain.

Yes, ebay's default position always seems to be that the seller is in the wrong and it's extremely difficult to deal with them. To make things worse, they have all the power because they control the money. It can be very frustrating.
    Hope you win this one.

Offer the man a full refund of the purchase price, if he ships it back to you at his own expense, and you do not refund the original shipping. That is a very common practice on eBay. Unless you said you would pay for return shipping, it’s understood that you do not. Offering him a refund because he read your description wrong is amicable. This will go a long way towards appeasing the EBay gods. And chances are if he is faced with return shipping he will back down, and settle for leaving you bad feedback. Which you can contest later.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”
