Just remembered. I bought a pair of Philips MCD 702 speakers from a charity shop for £5 about a year ago. They are the ones with the ribbon tweeters and sound OK. That would leave £55 for an amp!
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

I've managed to put together a system for my gf for Xmas.

The turntable is a Trio and cost me £40 via Gumtree :

The amp is a Denon, again through Gumtree but this time the price was a princely £5 :

(it needed a lot of cleaning internally !)

The last pieces of the jigsaw are the excellent Goodmans Magnums bought from Geoff of this very forum for £40. It's only taken me a year to get round to tidying them up. I have stripped them down, cleaned the pots on the back, painted the facias, recovered the grilles and polished the heck out of the veneer.
They look pretty sexy - I'll put some photos up in due course - but, more importantly, the whole shebang sounds amazing :

I made up some cables, but even allowing a few quid for them, the entire system is under £100 so it can be done.
Patience is key when it comes to the turntable : get that bit right and the rest is easy
    Good luck !

There's an album I play quite a lot, Staring at the sun, particularly like " Man ", I saw them perform it live around the time the album came out, it just stuck in my mind, Mike Lindup's keyboard's sounded great and old thunder thumbs had to be a bit more subtle for once lol.

That's the good one you've got there too, with the old style front panel graphics. Those are the ones to go for if you want an old Denon. The later marks look much more refined in appearance but are nothing like as good.

Here you go - not too shabby for £80 ... sure there's more close to hand:
