What a negative effect the Yanks have had on the English language.

Maybe it's just me, but I find your comments patronising and even mildly offensive (I have family in the States).

Indeed - but I've been saying much the same thing for years, especially about having fun and keeping an open mind, shunning badge snobbery, looking 'outside the box' and that there's no such thing as "the best"!

However, it's surprising how so many folk, judging from the input on forums, are still stuck 'inside their box' or who have completely disregarded the above...... They should definitely heed that guy's advice!

I don't see why you having family in the states makes their bastardisation of the English language ok.

Hmm. I don't think that was intended to offend, but perhaps it could have been phrased better.

The modern casual sprinkling of 'isms' into the English language is undesirable. Be they Americanisms, Gallicisms or whatever. These are just as bad as the 'street patois' that London youngsters employ in an attempt to communicate. Innit!
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

It just seemed a bit obvious to me. But then again, I guess knowing what he says and heeding it are two different things..... especially when it comes to some forum "characters". Thankfully such people don't tend to thrive here and probably prefer other places.

I apologise, I didn’t mean to offend, but I stand by what I said and others appear to
    agree with.

It's the thinking outside the box that has kept me energised for so long.
For many years my box swapping went untrammelled (possibly made up word) and my racks...and back...groaned with each bigger, flashier, more powerhungry purchase.
Then a very drastic career change (from working to not!!!) and a equally drastic house downsize meant, as the Manics put it....everything must go.

So, from huge Denon pre/power biamped nonsense into erm...modded IMF wardrobes, i went Amazon Chi fi Dac and Tubes.

Goodbye helicopter assault delivery, with volume to match and hello "pipe and slippers".....and no listening fatigue.

Lol - dunno about that. Not into 'pipe and slippers', myself. Prefer a big fat doobie and some Doc Martens!
