    Default Hello

    Hi everyone

Steve here - a recently retired music/hi-fi enthusiast with a bit more time to indulge my hobby these days but more on that later.
Music taste is very eclectic from blues to rock to jazz to world and a lot more besides.

System is now a bit long in the tooth and probably belongs firmly in the past masters category but here goes anyway.

Analogue - Ariston RD80 in custom mahogany plinth / Audio technica AT1100 / AT OC30
Digital - Mission 200 / Pink triangle ordinal with da capo 22bit filter
    Amp - Naim nac32.5 / Hicap / Nap140 x 2
Speakers - Harbeth LS5/12a on HNE granite stands / REL Strata

Other stuff - Pink triangle PT1, Mission 774, AT OC5, Ortofon MC25FL, Arcam delta 70, Tannoy Eaton.

The pink triangle was damaged many years ago (cracked bearing) and consigned to the loft along with the mission but as I now find myself buying vinyl again I think it may be worth spending some time and effort to recommission them possibly with a few upgrades along the way.

I am hoping that you guys may be able to help as I will probably need parts and advice once this is underway.

    Cheers Steve

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

    Hello Steve. Welcome to AOS.

That's an interesting collection of equipment you have there.

Your 'cracked bearing' on the PT sounds an odd problem, members should be able to assist. There may be spares out there or perhaps you could get somebody to make a new bearing for you. I reckon Speedy Steve in our trade section could probably help.

    Enjoy the forum,
    Geoff.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

    Hi Geoff
The bearing cup is jewelled and can chip if shock loaded.
Fortunately they can now be repaired at a price.
Thanks for the tip - is that magna audio - I see he does arm boards and other stuff which could prove useful.
    Regards Steve
