Long shot I know but looking for an RCM and from what I've heard Loricraft is the quietest machine - but sooooo expensive.
Anyone got one lurking under the bed?

Talk to Terry at Loricraft he'll do you a deal.
I wouldn't be without mine. And yes they are quiet.
I have been tempted so many times to sell my loricraft but remember the days when I had a moth RCM while it does the job the noise of it use to get me down.
My nitty gritty is great but sounds like a 747 coming in the lounge for touchdown !!
Loricraft is on the list ! Tom's is basically silent in comparison

I had a bad experience yesterday but thanks to the Allaerts superb build there was no damage. The loudest of clicks had me running to check the vinyl (third play) to find something embedded in a groove. No idea what it was our where it came from but a good clean got rid of it. Lesser carts would have lost their tip for sure but it made me realise I need to take better care of my vinyl.
The Loricraft is so bloody expensive but all others, okki nokki etc are reported as noisy.

I'm Mark.
RCMs containing vacuum cleaners can be expected to be noisy, I don't see the problem... Mine is in the garage and I only ever do a few records at a time so it's all over in 10 minutes, much quicker than when my wife decides to hoover the whole house!
I think the point is they don't HAVE to be noisy. The Loricraft is not, it makes a huge difference as it is actually possible to listen and clean at the same time.
And thats something I would like to be able to do. It's also incredibly well put togeather.
Good luck with the search Adrian

I keep the Loricraft next to the turntable. It's whisper-quiet, enough to keep on playing music (it's pretty much inaudible from my listening chair) if you want to, though it does need a bit of attention obviously when cleaning and you'll want to QA the result.
I particularly like the really focussed way it works on a tiny patch at a time. You can see the water collector (jam jar!) at the side fill up and view the crap it collects.
I have a routine that involves multiple passes depending on the problem. For example I acquired a rare Czech recording of the Mozart 'Haydn' quartets, covered in mould spots. First off some enzyme cleaner, got the worst of it, then an alcohol-water-surfactant solution, then purified water/surfactant - result was perfect, not a click on any of the three records - but a jam jar full of black stuff. (Had to wipe the inside of the box with an alcohol wipe as well though).
Sometimes though a quick squirt of the alcohol solution and a second go with purified water is all a record needs.
I really wouldn't be without mine, I pull a record out for a listen and if it's anything less than pristine, a few minutes of cleaning later (without the need for ear defenders or a trip to the garage) and it's on the deck. When I had the Moth I used to build up a massive 'to clean' pile, then every six months or so I'd grit my teeth and do as many as I could face. (Which was never as many as the pile). No longer.
