Ive heard several Koetsu's, all been a bit meh. £2000 for an entry level one is laughable. Ok for those with more money than they deserve to have.

Maybe that's could value for money in relative terms but it's a big step up from what i paid for the Shure! I guess i need to hear what a good MC can do first to know if it's worth it for me.
Try to get to a bake off or demo and listen to some decent mc's and see if it's what you like, a big bold presentation may not be what you will hear.

SPU is good for that. Agreed a lot of MCs can be a bit prissy and 'hifi'.

Yeah good idea and hopefully is something i can try and do in the near future.

So customs has been paid (£36-grrr) and the SAS will be delivered on Thursday but unfortunately it will have to wait to see what it's all about, as my partners Dad has been taken into hospital and so we've had to come to Bangor for a little while! We are hoping he can come home soon!

Also the sale of the sub fell through as the guy is a complete twat!! So a bit annoyed about that.

So have finally received the sas and have done a quick set up which wasn't too difficult as i didn't have to adjust the arm height! Tracking force is at about 1.25g. I've only been able to listen to 1 record just to check set up, but straight away it was clear that it was picking up alot more high frequency info with everything being clear and well separated. Midrange was very open and what bass i did hear, seemed very tuneful and quite deep.

Very early days as i need to run it in and optimise set up but so far have enjoyed what i have heard so far. It also appears that i will be getting the second sub tomorrow now after a mix up from the sellers end! So will spend the day re-arranging my set up and then getting some vinyl spinning.

not long. it was used but only a few hrs. see,s fine now maybe 20hrs. i found it rides very low at 1.25g so lowered it.. sound improved a bit and it rides at a better height. Think all the sas tips are a bit this way.

Ahh ok so not too long then. I did check for how much it would bend and it seemed fine to me. I would certainly not add anymore though, it looks extremely delicate! I was actually nervous dropping the arm for the first time. Especially as i've been running the nos stylus at 4.5g and cueing by hand.
