Default What if China made first contact with aliens?

There are believed to be 700 million trillion , or so I here, terrestrial planets in the known universe. It is possible we are the only one ever or now but odds are there will be some or have been.

But we will never likely know

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Which, as I said. Is a fluke!
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

It's what I believe. So state that as a fact from my point of view.

But that is my point. Even if it is a fluke the universe is so big that it is a mathematical certainty that there will have been other flukes. The only way that could not be the case is if we did not exist either. We do, so I'm afraid the logic is watertight.

Surely you're joking now? Your opinions are "facts"?

Not so. An individual's 'logic' can be anything. It's wide open to interpretation.

Until I'm given cause to suspect they are not, they are to me.

Why let Geoff hijack the discussion?
He's stated his point of view.
    OK. Move on.

Which was questioned, so I responded. Hardly a hijack!
