Default Help I think I've screwed up

Looking for some help from you more experienced folk on th forum.

I built a couple of subs over the weekend, they sounded very good, I tried different placement and in doing so accidently managed to touch two banana plugs together whilst everything was up and running. The banana plugs sparked and now the amp I was powering em with sounds like crap.

It does power up and I can get sound from it but it sounds terrible. The amp is a Crown xls 1000.

Have I screwed something up guy's?

Quite possibly, yes. Some amps will survive a short circuit at the output - some won't. You may have DC on the output too, so I wouldn't connect them to any speakers. Check for DC on the output and if there is any (more than about 100mV) there's definitely a serious fault. Even without DC it sounds like the amps will needs repairing.

They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

Crown amps are built like Soviet tractors, so it might just be a fuse. Check before plugging into any speaker.

It appears there is a reset button on the rear of these amps? Not sure if that would help. These are Class D amps and some Class D chips are not happy when you short the speaker outs. There is a Crown Manufacturers vid on YT about a factory reset, looks like you have to connect it to a laptop.
