    Default Speaker recommendations?

    Hi there
Not been on here long so not sure what’s out there.
I have dug out my old hi fi gear after years of storage becaus I have acquired my late dads Turntable & thought it would be nice to play some old records again.
So my system comprises of at the moment.....

    Duel 510 turntable
    Nad 3130 amp
    Dennon CD player
A pair of Haybrook speaker stands. All mint condition.

I would apreciate any comments on this set up.

Could anyone recommend some speakers new or second hand that would sound nice with the gear I have?
I don’t want to spend a fortune on what is essentially a free set up so far, but was thinking around £100.
What is your opinion on Warfdale Diomond 9.1 these Iv seen for £90 & reviews seem ok.? Could I do better?
    Cheers
    Marc

A pair of vintage Mordaunt Short Pageant 2 speakers would probably be nice with your gear. Can't comment on the Diamonds, I think they're Chinese made.

Where's Freullet by the way? I've never heard of it.

Diamonds are a good choice for a small speaker but I'd go for an older pair, the Mk IV or before. Consider that the IV was around £100 new 30 years ago, the newest version is still around £100, so costs have been cut considerably compared to the older ones.

The Mk IV are my personal favourites.

If the room is not a shoe box then you could go bigger than Diamonds if you wanted to.

In my opinion. It's worth waiting for a pair of Pageant 2's to come along. That is the classic model of the time from Mordaunt Short.

Why not put a 'wanted' ad in our Private Exhibitions section? I suspect members may have some tucked away. I know plenty have used them.

yes id agree with geoff, ive had 3 pairs of pageant 2's,they are a cracking little speaker,£100 would also get you a very good pair.
id also look for celestion ditton 33's although ive not heard a pair.from what ive read they are also very good but harder to find and may go for more than £100.
