Default What achromat for sl1200g / gae

As it no longer has the lip on the platter due to the brass sheet on top, does one just use the standard 5mm achromat on the new sl1200g?

Is there a rubber mat on the new version?
If do, the easiest thing to do is get the Achromat of the same thickness.

If you really want to get the best from your new beauty, speak to guy at Puresound and get a Tenuto Platter mat. I will never part with mine.

I presume the 1210 can handle the weight?

If there isn't a lip on the platter then the standard Achromat should do just fine. Although the Achromat SL1200 version would do just as well so don't be too concerned. They are also available in several different colours in the 3mm version if you so fancy. I personally would go with the 5mm version.

Lol... I see that Andrew's getting all sorts of different recommendations for mats. Much depends on how 'serious' he wants to get into the whole thing, as it can be a bit of minefield.

My recommendation for him to use an Achromat was simply to keep things simple (as he wants to keep the T/T stock), and not spend a fortune, as well as being effective - and the Achromat ticks all those boxes.

If you do go for one, Andrew, buy the 5mm version, as sounds much better

    Thanks Marco, and everyone.

As you said, I want to keep it as stock as possible.

Would I just be better geting the standard 5mm version now rather than the more expensive Technics version as it now has no lip?

I must say, i think i prefer the look of the old mat rather than the new one, i suppose it could grow on me?

I suppose this the mkII variant.

i never bothered with the special 1210 version. Simple 5mm version works very well. You might be able to pick one up cheaply. Ask on the forum.
