Truth is Mac, I am listening to a AT33PTGII right now as we speak and something just sounds very right with it. I can't explain what but the ZYX is just sat on the shelf. I keep reaching for the at33ptg.

I agree the ZYX will (mostly is) become unobtainable in a short time but I'm a sell and move on type.

I'm not saying the AT33PTGII IS "BETTER" just tonally different and the presentation is different. I also have an Ortofon Vienna on the radar which may be able to come my way for very reasonable money. I've heard that in my system and I'd love to have it.

Just time to experience something new.

You're right when it comes to Zyx , in my case great on rock ,80's pop but jazz and blues is not , I prefer Benz they don't vary that much on different genres.
AT33PTGII is really nice , very flat response ,

    Cheers Mac.

The ZYX is a very good cartridge. No qualms about it.

Think I would go for the ATPTGii if I were to go down MC route again.

That would be very sensible. I have one here on loan and it's excellent. There is a remote possibility of something a little special so until that's off the table, I'll hang on.

Lol, that's a way off mate. It will be done if my work efforts pan out. A lot is riding on that to be fair.
