Default Onix Melody SP3 Valve Amplifier

Selling as part of the clear out I am having due to space issues!!

I have had this running a set of Tannoy Eatons for several months now and it sounds very good.

It was upgraded by David Coe of AD Audio https://adaudioconsultants.wordpress.com/page/2/
The upgrades as shown in the link did indeed make quite a difference in sound quality and lower background noise.

Power Output (8ohms): 38 watts per channel
Frequency Response: 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz
Total Harmonic Distortion (at rated output): 1%
    Amplifier Topology: Class AB
    S/N Ratio: > 90 dB

    Input Sensitivity: 380 mV
    Input Impedance: 250 k Ohms
Amplifier Power: 4 or 8 Ohms
    Dimensions (HxWxD): 8.1”x11.9”x13.25”
    Weight: 56 lbs

    Review http://www.highfidelityreview.com/on...amplifier.html

No idea of real value but would like £500 as it sounds great but let me know if I am being unrealistic with pricing please.

Can deliver within 80 miles of Newmarket or can be collected but no posting as very heavy and too easily dropped and damaged.

Couple of questions... What valves? Push pull? There's sockets marked bypass on the rear - does this mean the passive volume can be bypassed and the amp run as a power amp?

Ok read the review so know the tubes... Bypass?

I had one of these for quite a while - excellent sound; powerful and controlled, lots of detail.

Reading up on the reviews it seems to have superb low end grip - maybe a good match for Tannoys....

I've been using it with a set of Tannoy Eaton's and they work very well together.

The bypass does indeed bypass the volume so you can run a pre into it.

I've used a streamer with built in pre to the bypass and a phono stage into the volume side.

    Works very well.

Hard to describe but it has that extra low end grunt that valves do well whilst also having a lovely mid range for voices etc.

The work that was done opened the mids up and definitely lowered the background noise or blackness as I like to call it.

No I'd run it as a power amp.

That's effectively how I use it with my CA Stream magic running off the digital pre amp to the bypass input.

Looks like a great little amp. So is it effectively just one input as an integrated John? There must have been a couple of versions, as most of the online references show a model sans bypass and with two inputs.

Which valves does the unit come with?

Spec seems to indicate 6L6 valves so presumably this now uses EL34 ?
