I wouldn't if I were you, Andrew [unless you have very good cause].

Certainly don't do it on a whim, because it'll be the beginning of the end of your LP12, especially if you're in a happy place now with your vinyl, and possibly the start of a difficult and unpredictable new journey...

    Hi Marco

I certainly don't want to mod it, i want to keep it stock but also want it for the 'coolness' factor but also for playing 45' singles that i can never be botherd to play on the LP12 and also my large collection of 78's.

You think it might sound better that the Linn!

I think Richer Sounds have a £500 off offer on at the moment. I'm tempted myself but will await the SP10R to come along.

No....not entirely, Andrew. Overall, the Linn should be better.

However, all turntables have their respective strengths and flaws, and if you get a Techy, especially if you use it to play the likes of 12" singles (45s), which it excels at, even in stock form, it'll expose the Linn's flaws, in terms of pitch stability, dynamic alacrity and tonal coloration.

And once your brain 'tunes into' that, you'll hear it every time you listen to your LP12.... Then, you'll want what the Techy does well (as described above), along with the Linn's 'tune-playing ability' and addictive musicality, which is when the difficult and unpredictable new journey will start, chasing the near-impossible, and the best of both worlds...

It might not happen, of course [much will depend of your mindset and how clear the goals are you want to achieve], but I've seen it happen many times before, when folk compare and begin to fundamentally understand the relative attributes of belt and direct-drive T/Ts - and it can be the quickest way to fall out of love with your record collection.

Therefore, much as I'm a fan of the Techncs, if your 'head's in a happy place' right now, as it were, with the vinyl replay aspect of your system, I'd think very carefully about what you're planning to do.

    Marco.

    Just seen it, thanks!

Although you can't use the offer code as it's not available on line, only in store?
