Default Wanted: ESS sabre based dac

I'd like to try something new in my system just to confirm my old Trichord dac is the best I can do on a budget. If anyone has something, preferably a bit obscure, please let me know. Unless it's a stonking bargain I'd rather not have an Audiolab or Rega. Budget up to £200 unless it's a bit special.

Hi Lawrence. Good luck with your search for such a dac.

In the meantime I have a couple of dacs you are welcome to try out for a short while. One is a Chevron NOS (which you have heard in my system) and the other is a Micromega MyDac.

Thanks Edward, I will PM in a little while. In the meanwhile I am now experimenting with transport options.

Edward has very kindly lent me 2 nice dacs which are giving me a different take on what my system can sound like, plus I've now bought an M2Tech Young so I've got plenty of experimenting to do.
