    One more point, I've got a Yaqin Phono stage, the cheap Chinese stock tubes aren't much cop, have you changed them?

    Which Yaqin stage have you got?

    If its the MS-23B have you considered modding it to a Lesbox.

    It makes a huge difference to this stage....

    Dunno, I used vinyl a few times a year to loosen up the bearing, all digital now!

    I'm still using the supplied tubes, never really gave it a thought. Any recommendations would be welcomed.

    I assume they are 12ax7 like mine, it will say on the valves or in the instructions. I used Sovteks with some success, although some smooth NOS like Mullard might be just the case in this situation (I think Mullard 12ax7s are still relatively cheap though I may be wrong on this as prices always seem to be going up with demand). There is so much info on these valves online, they are one of the most common pre amp types. I was just speaking to a member who might be able to help you, I'll mention it.
