Exactly this. Vinyl can be a royal PITA, but it's worth it and you'd miss it.

Yip, it’s going back, I just checked the image from a similar cartridge and the stylus is about twice as long compared to mine. So back it goes, a shame but never mind hopefully won’t be anything lost.

Just need to get the bottom of why my Decca Gold isn’t loud enough on my phono stage

It's possible that the cartridge (whatever it may be? ) has been retipped and not done well.

Deccas are highish output cartridges, so that doesn't sound right. I'd try another phono stage. Can you borrow one for comparison?
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

That's my thoughts too, I've emailed for quotes for retipping but I'm thinking that it's best just to let it go.

I think my Decca is goosed too as swapping over to my TQ Claymore built in stage makes no difference. This just adds more grief, kind of rubs salt into the wound at the moment.

Just dump the whole vinyl thing, is my advice.

I feel a cleaner, better person since finally managing it myself.

Digital is better, easier and lets you focus on the music.

Must admit I haven’t been in a rush to bring my turntable downstairs... Tidal and Spotify’s huge catalogues help.

Sound wise there is nothing like it but it can cause despair at other times.
Just take deep breaths and leave it til your feeling like sorting your problem. Often getting a new perspective helps too. Ali might be able to help as he is close

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

    Mikey,

Vinyl can be a pain in the arse BUT don't give up. Rewards are waiting. Flog all the non essential bits and buy a TOTL ZYX or similar. fit and forget type of cartridge. Then just enjoy for a while.

Thanks for the comments, I'll deal with this Cartridge refund and once my Tannoys are back from recone it'll be a serious rejig of system to get it how I want.

Been a frustrating journey and I'm not done yet, but I started out wrong with it all and now I'm paying the price.
