I think its very tacky indeed
Pink does it , its even worse when a lady does it

I couldn’t agree more. A pale attempt at trying to be cool, or displaying the fact that you have no upbringing.

Odd words acceptable but can depend, and certainly not like a lot of rap stuff. Let's face it our parents didn't like messages our music sent as don't we in many cases but outright filth is unneeded

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".
“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”
"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”
“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

I'm Mike.
Check the charts, loads of tracks marked explicit
It's the way of the world, to be rude and obnoxious is the new cool, no discipline, no respect, me me me attitude, the world is on a downward spiral
John Grant is a bugger for it, shame as I really like his music too, but I do find it all a bit unnecessary

Can't say it has ever bothered me in the slightest. Always thought the 'Parental Advisory' stickers were possibly the most ridiculous thing ever. All the shit in the world and people want to protect their children from hearing rude words. As if that is even possible in any case.
Current Lash Up:
TEAC VRDS 701T > Sony TAE1000ESD > Krell KSA50S > JM Labs Focal Electra 926.
Outside hardcore punk or rap it sounds unnecessary, lacking in imagination and rather silly really.
Quite difficult nowadays for parents of young kids to navigate through it all.

Just artists trying to be cool and sell to a certain demographic.. whatever is the latest trend some artists will jump on... i.e release your music on cassette format to appear trendy or a special colour edition LP for 3x the cost of the CD to appear exclusive.
David.
Well yes and I find listening to the Sleaford Mods a powerful experience. They dont go overboard but the language is there and its there to be used in the right context.
In many ways there is a reality check and an anger that Punk rock never had. For me the F word is just a word that has lost any really offensive potency. Any song that needs to artistically use it is fine with me.
I dont have a problem with explicit lyrics. Just dont overdo things, trying to be cool because it sounds crass and immature.
John Grant used it and I cant think of another word which would have better conveyed what he feels. Quite clever really in that you almost dont expect it from him in the song
Less is more and one line from a Joy Division or Bob Dylan track speaks a thousand words. Thats the sort of deep lyrics Im after
