Glasshouse TVC pre amp

Bought recently to try with My Quad 909 but it seems to prefer the stock glasshouse pre I have. TVC has a bigger, more dynamic sound but the passive is a bit more etched and detailed.
I was told by the chap I bought it from that is only a few months old and it pretty much looks new.
