    I'm Steve.

    Default Greetings listeners!

    Hi all,

A few words about me for those struggling to sleep, I've had a fascination with things hifi since my best friends older brother showed off his EAR turntable (I think that's what it was called), Trio integrated amp and Spendor BC1's by playing Pink Floyd's Ummagumma. It was about 1975, and the following year (for my 18th birthday) My mother bought me my first real hifi system(!) Comprised a BSR Macdonald turntable, Bush Arena amp, 10 lovely wpc wrapped on pretend teak, and Wharfedale Denton Speakers. I convinced myself that it was almost as good as my friends brothers setup. I think the drugs might have helped a bit with that.

Fast forward 40 years or so, and that stereo's gone, my hair's gone and some of my hearing too, by my love of music and music players has stuck around.

My set up consists of Monarch turntable with X200 tonearm and Ortofon 2m Black, Yaqin MS22b phono amp, Audion Silver Night Mk 2, Densen CD player and Zu Omen Def speakers. Mostly I like it all but have one or two issues which I will bore everyone with at a later date.

Music wise, all kinds of stuff from Average White Band to Zappa, and Carpenters to Massive Attack, with a lot of rock and jazz in between.

Thanks for your perseverance, hope to speak more soon

    regards, Ste

I'm sure you're familiar with the site, but take a look around and join in the chat.

    Enjoy the forum,
    Geoff.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Hi Steve, welcome to the forum.

I think I remember the Bush Arena amp. You seem to have improved your system a little bit over the years
    Current Lash Up:

    TEAC VRDS 701T > Sony TAE1000ESD > Krell KSA50S > JM Labs Focal Electra 926.
