Exactly - and we are in full agreement, which is why I only ever eat homemade steak (or game) pies, or those from our local butcher, so I know what's gone into them. I simply don't do offal, or eat fatty crap. I'm also similarly fussy with sausages, which often the same applies to (such as you've described above).

However, I'm not terribly keen on even the best pork pies (I've had some good ones from Melton Mowbray, for example), as they tend to be a little stodgy, and I'm not big on eating cold pies. I like pies served warm, with a nice rich gravy.

Barry, Scotch eggs with runny centres and a crispy shell are fab (and indeed how the best ones should be served). See here, which is how I've had them at the pubs in question: https://www.nerdswithknives.com/scotch-eggs-runny-yolk/

Read how they *should* be made, and often how they're not!

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Oh yes, absolutely, but you have to pay for them

Quite simply, cheap pies contain cheap ingredients!

Always liked that phrase 'face like a dropped pie'. Although dropping me pie wouldn't stop me from eating it

I preferred 'face like a bag of spanners'!
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

Couple of times in the years where I live the power for the neighbourhood went down for a few hours. What struck me was the awesome beautiful silence due to the electrical hash and all the electrical stuff like fridge compressors etc not being on. Wonderful lack of noise - surprising what we put up with all the time without realising.

Now that we are one week away from Christmas day, the tree has gone up and is twinkling away with the lights and baubles. Cards are going up, and all presents bought, ready to be wrapped.

Provisions and vittles procured and the fridge/freezer stuffed.

So far so good, but today I spotted the first 'pavement pizza' of the festive season.

After a drunken night in my youth, I threw up on my amplifier (a Rotel RA-712 with lovely VU meters). It went in through the vents and it was a week before I dared switch it on. It worked perfectly for another 6 years, before I sold it to a friend for £30. I never told him about the vomit
