The anti-poaching team should gather up the teeth and bones, make them into costume jewellery and sell them on ebay. I'd happily bid on a chess set made of poacher bones. And if they don't have the stomach for this, sack them and buy more lions, that's what I say.

I like your thinking. Put a bounty on the poachers.

I suppose you have to get around the problem that if you do that some people will just whack anyone and claim they were poaching. I'd be considering it for one.

Yes the bones would have to come with a certificate of authentication (is that a word?) and maybe stamped with a lion symbol, like they do with eggs.

The only people with any right to be in the game reserves are the staff, the anti-poaching dudes and the safari tourists (we're easy to spot, we all look like Stewart Granger). People carrying signs saying "I am not a poacher" should be regarded with suspicion. Anybody else = lion food.

Well you can't ever have enough lions, that's been known since ancient times. Why not build a double perimeter around the reserve and pack the interior with lions? A couple of gates to get in and out, Gurkhas with AK47s manning them.

The lion perimeter will be self-sustaining with poacher-meat mostly, you might have to herd a bunch of giraffes or whatever in there from time to time just to top up the food supply, granted. But that's problem solved, really.

With enough television coverage, the lions could quickly gain celebrity status. Then they could "take the show on the road". The tour could take in the worst of our council estates. That show alone would be worth the licence fee.

And there'd be spin-off Channel 5 programmes like "22 kids and the lions ate nine of them"

Channel 5 be all over that. Sky too. Narrated by Karl Pilkington.

You could have purpose built arenas. Much like the Romans did when throwing Christians to the lions was a popular pastime.

You could but I was thinking more like you fit mini cameras to the lions and the people and then you watch from both perspectives as they hunt each other in a desolate urban environment. And Karl Pilkington is attached to narrate. That's my pitch, take it or leave it.
