Is it just me, or does anyone else find mint sauce revolting?

Yes, the shop-bought stuff is truly dire. However, home-made, with fresh mint from your garden, soaked in malt vinegar with a touch of sugar added, is a different animal.

Have you tried that, mate? If not, give it a go (if you don't grow herbs, then buy a pack of fresh mint leaves from the supermarket), and if you like the taste of mint at all in the first place, then you'll love it!

No, mint sauce is OK with me. Not too much though.

My mother just asked me what I wanted for Christmas. I said - Donate to Amnesty International. She keeps saying that I should have something "because I deserve it". I said I have enough, what the hell do I need? A rubber duck or something? Union Jack pants? Amusing wig? Exploding trousers?

Why ask if she are just going to do what she wants anyway? Rest of family just said "Good idea".

My revelation today is that she is just bloody selfish. Things are starting to make sense...

    Moan over for today

My mother made it when I was a kid, to go with roast mutton as lamb was called then. I didn't like mutton anyway and found mint sauce disgusting.

Well, that's different then, as you just don't like the taste. Personally, I like a small amount of home-made stuff on lamb, as I think it compliments the flavour of the meat and helps break down the fattiness.

However, sometimes I don't bother, as Del makes really lovely gravy (from the meat juices, wine and stock, etc), which I pour over the lamb, so it doesn't really need anything else. Depends what mood I'm in and also the quality of the lamb, which can vary

I tend to dislike strong tasting foods. My taste buds are hyper sensitive to them. It's a well known syndrome (but a normal one).

There was a time when I was younger, when I couldn't eat a sandwich, if it had been made using a knife that had previously cut cucumber or onion. I was that sensitive to it.
