Since when has it been necessary to apologise to Londoners? If anything they should be apologising to us.

I thought Amber Rudd was a real ale. Anyway, why is real ale called craft beer now?

Because too many people have been allowed to use the term 'craft beer' without being punched in the mouth, and now it's got out of hand.

Ha! I understand there's a difference between the two. CAMRA defines real ale thusly:

'In the early 1970s CAMRA coined the term 'real ale' for traditional draught cask beers to distinguish them from processed and highly carbonated beers being promoted by big brewers.

CAMRA defines real ale as beer that is produced and stored in the traditional way and ferments in the dispense container to produce a reduction in gravity. It is also dispensed by a system that does not apply any gas or gas mixture to the beer other than by the traditional Scottish air pressure system.'

Craft beer is simply beer produced by a small brewery. It's probably, but not necessarily, real ale.

Do you still need a beard to be a CAMRA member or have they got rid of that requirement now?

It's been a long time since I was in the licensing trade but IIRC the rule applied to the women as well.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

No need for a beard, CAMRA accepts members of all sexual orientations.

32 genders now, I learned the other day. At least 32, they reckon there are plenty they have not found yet.

I don't mind living in the future, mostly because we have the big screen tellies, but it's a lot more complicated than the world I grew up in.

I'd say it's a lot more complicated. The words we had for things are no longer acceptable, and have been replaced by new, even longer words, as if adding syllables will somehow take the sting out of it.

You get some mard-arse who's saying 'I haven't worked out what I am yet, but in the meantime you have to call me this...' And you have to go along with it, or the do-goody Nazis will do all they can to ruin your life.
