    Default R.I.P. Cookie

It is with great sadness that Cookie my Chocolate Lab has passed away.
She has been poorly for a number of weeks now with a large mass cell tumour on her side.
But she finally came to the point that it was far kinder and fair to her to put her to sleep.
It was done sensitively and kindly by the vets, with me there. Though upsetting it was for the best.
So, rather than reflect on the sadness here are a few photo's of her over the years I have had the honour of being her pal.
Poor Faye my Black Lab is lost without her and keeps looking around the house.
I'm keeping Faye pacified with extra love, attention and of course biscuits.

Always remembered, she was a fantastic pal and companion, though by hell could she be strong willed and obstinate.
Take care Cookie and catch up sometime in the future.

Very Sad Andy. I had to do that to my lab many years ago. I was broken-hearted as had him for 14 years, but he had cancer too.. He had a chocolate son interestingly.

Hope you feel better soon as I do your other dog.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Cheers for your thoughts guys, much appreciated.
Cookie was 12 years old, I'd had her for 8 years.
She was originally a rescue, along with her pal Faye.
She was, as all dogs are. Characters in her own right. Great fun to be around.
I have Faye at my feet looking at me. She probably just wants her tea

not much comfort i know but you can console yourself to a small degree by knowing you did the right thing, its the worst thing about owning pets and its something i dread.

    Lovely looking dog, Andy.

I'm sure you had great times together - lots to remember.
Apart from my years at college I've always had pets. Life would be considerably diminished without them.
