Was thinking of putting some sound deadening sheet I've got on top until I decide what to do.

would agree, it will probably be the shelf being slightly alive. feet wont be helping. The levitating ones only isolate in 1 dimension

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Great point, Grant. I think Isonoe may be the way forward but I'd need some hefty versions!

If you're not tapping the shelf while listening to a record I don't see there is a problem. Nothing that happens in normal use will replicate that effect.

Just worried about resonance as it's quite close to the speakers

Yes indeed Grant...... downwards only (into the shelf). the Slate shelf will cost you less that £50 and if the correct Blue Slate......it is very dead indeed. (the devils material)

Some acoustic feedback is inevitable unless you put deck and speakers in different rooms and then you might find you don't like the subjective effect of having zero acoustic feedback...A cartridge is effectively a microphone. Even if you use a chunk of armour plate from the Bismark for a shelf you can't get round that.

Won't hurt to beef up the shelf I suppose but if it is already sounding clean and precise it doesn't seem like you have a problem to me.

I get the tiniest bit of feedback from the granite table, and even less from the plinth. Zero from the sp10 itself. Use a stethoscope you check - cheap on eBay.

And when you've done that you can wear it round the house and pretend to be 'Doctor At Large'. IME most women have a thing for Doctors.
