I'm interested to know what options you get from the loading plugs? Are they something that Alan supplied? Are you using them on the MC setting or do you have to use them on MM to bring the loading down from 47KOhm?

    Hi Andrew,
I'm not 100% sure if they bring the loading down to be honest. They were supplied with the Firebottle.
When using a MC you plug them in and adjust the toggle switch to the MC setting. When using a MM you remove them and flick the switch down again.
I've just tried to find the instructions to give you more details but I'm afraid I've misplaced them.
Maybe if Alan is about he can spare a minute and give more details about this.

    Cheers.

They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

Hi Andrew. The 'standard' input impedance is 47K ohms (MM) which isn't changed by the MM/MC switch.

So for loading in the MC mode a loading plug is needed to bring the input impedance down to whatever suits the particular MC.

Most are specified at 100 ohms but there are some that need a different impedance. Using external plugs gives the flexibility to suit a wide range.

How about a swap or an exchange for a few months? This gives me and whoever a chance to listen to different phonos.
