Default FS Cary 805c SET monoblocks

Okay so these just don't gel with my new Tannoys so they have to go.

    Here's some information.

50 watts rms output from 6sl7 pre-driver/300b main driver/845 output tubes.

Currently has 1940's Tung Sol brown base 6sl7, Shuguan Black Treasure 300b and PSvane Hifi Series 845 tubes. Lots of life left on them.

    Has user adjustable negative feedback.

Has speaker taps for 4, 8 and 16ohm.

Has balanced and single ended inputs.

Has user and easy adjustable bias.

Comes with original baseplate and custom baseplate with fans for cooling - I use these.

    No functional issues. Cosmetically 9/10.

    Work beautifully with Ane's!

    Very heavy - 45kg each.

Double boxed and in original wooden crates.

Retail for current model is circa €12k. Yours for €2,300 + shipping (approx €200 in Europe).

    PM if interested. PayPal only.

They seem like a bargain. Why don't they gel with Tannoys I would (from a relatively uninformed point of view) have thought they were perfect? Have you tried changing other components in the chain, cables etc?

It seems to me that dual concentric Tannoys are a bit more demanding than their specs would suggest. In my experience, they need quite a bit of current to show their best, but don't work well with amps with too low or too high output damping factor ... hence big push-pull valve amps, rather than SETs or (most) solid-state amps. There's quite a few of us on AoS who've come to the same conclusion. But, yes, these are superb amps ...

I've tried to get them to sing with the Tannoys but they don't give their best - I even brought the Ane's out of the spare room and hooked them up - fantastic - but wth the Tannoys no. At low levels yes but higher volumes no - they lose grip - but that's with zero feedback, they tighten up with feedback applied but that's a compromise in my book.

They are superb, and at 46kg each a lot of iron for the money. A quick Google will tell you the general opinion.

I emailed him but haven't heard anything and haven't had time to call him. I have some free time tomorrow so will try to.

I'm also speaking with nick Gorham about a custom build.

Well LDA products are way beyond what I would wish to afford but have heard them at various shows and they never fail to impress. Will the P6s work with your Tannoys?
