“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

That would be your BCG injection for TB. It was common practice at my school to punch people 'on their BCG'. Just for laughs you understand. Great days.

Don't really understand the fear of injections. It's a little painful but less painful than, say, fighting with the cat.

Therefore I would have to be half dead or definately needing travel protection before I accepted someone jabbing me up.
Its all different now , the needles are so thin you hardly notice the injection

Flu jab last Friday, didn't feel a thing. I'm fine with needles as long as I can't actually see the injection.

You'll be knackered if you need one in the eye then!

It was making me a bit angry when I finished my post. Did we need it? My kids wont be going through that sort of rubbish because I feel its just government institutions messing around with us. We just stood in a line and accepted our fate

I had skinny arms and that damn long needle seemed to go all the way through Honest it still twinges there when I think about it and that was over 40 years ago.

I thought our immune systems were fairly good. Did we really need these injections or is it just the nanny state?

I had a tiny brass particle blow out of a gun breech once and stick me in the eye. Pretty bloodshot for a while.
